Many of us have had some painful conflicts in our lives that may have separated us from family or friends. In fact, some have not spoken to their loved ones in years. No matter how many times you have tried to put it behind you, some things can not be resolved just by having a nice piece of pie at the thanksgiving table, some things are just too deep, we can not fix everything in our lives by ourselves. Some jobs are just too big for us to handle alone. I wasted so many years struggling to change things on my own until I finally realized what it really took for me to be healed.

The purpose of this book is to empower victims on how to turn their pain into power. This is a true story about a child who survived multiple rapes and experienced unimaginable abuse on various levels. I will prove that rape victims can survive by showing you how to heal. Although everyone else may say, Get over it! I'm here to tell you that you cant get over it or move on until you deal with it.
Most people who have been abused have tried to move on with their lives, but found it difficult to do so. Some who say they have moved on still suffer from bitterness, hatred, rebellion, and shame, which they try to hide. No matter who we are or what our professions are, we may hide all sorts of pains expressed through our emotions and our fears. Those fears may cause us to say, The past is behind me. But is it really? Do we honestly believe that the past is over if weve been abused? Can we actually say that its all behind us and were happily able to move on? If so, why does it keep haunting us? If we are honest, we have to admit that some of us are still struggling.
Think of an innocent child who had been abused since birth. Then at the age of fifteen, the thought of suicide suddenly began to torment her because she felt that she had no self-worth or reason to live for even one more day. Yet everyone she went to for help told her to get over it- suggesting that the pain from abuse would pass with time. Well, that child was me and I can say that time does not heal all things, especially internal wounds. Internal wounds are deep and damaging. They can even lead to suicide! As an adult, I was told many times to get over my abuse but even worse, I was told as a child that I must keep quiet about it. So as a child, I was haunted by some untrustworthy people in my life.

I often wonder what actually happens to that little girl when she waives goodbye to her mother with a big smile on her face as she goes into the baby sitters house for care or the little boy who runs down the street to play video games with little Johnny. Are we sure that our children are safe with the people we think we can trust? Since houses cant talk we cant be sure of knowing what goes on behind closed doors but the child knows the secrets that the adult holds behind those closed doors. Dont wait until your child comes to you. Go to them. Make time to talk because they have something to say.
